Reopened in late 2023 after renovation, the city museum tells Vienna's story from the Neolithic to today in a permanent exhibition that is free for everyone, with works by Klimt and Schiele. Look out for 'Poldi', a 10 m whale sculpture in the 25 m high central hall; the museum is closed on Mondays.
