Germany's oldest Christmas market fills the Altmarkt with more than 200 stalls, Ore Mountains folk art, the world's largest Erzgebirge step pyramid (14.61 m) and a historic Ferris wheel; try a Pflaumentoffel, the prune figure said to bring luck. Open daily 10 am to 9 pm (opening day from 4 pm, Christmas Eve until 2 pm), with themed festivals such as the Stollen festival on Advent weekends.
