Speicherstadt
The world's largest contiguous warehouse complex, begun in 1883 and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands on pine piles beside tidal canals. At dusk about 800 spotlights light the red brick and bridges every day; the Wasserschloss is a favourite photo spot, and historic barge tours through the canals usually leave from the Landungsbrücken.
