Chi Lin Nunnery's cypress halls were hand-built with interlocking joinery and not a single nail; keep quiet and do not photograph inside. Cross the footbridge to Tang-style Nan Lian Garden to circle its lake past the golden Pavilion of Absolute Perfection and a vegetarian restaurant behind a waterfall (nunnery 9:00–16:30, garden 7:00–21:00).
