Todai-ji New Year's Eve Bell & Great Buddha First Visit
Visitors ring Todai-ji's great bell 108 times in small groups on a first-come basis, and from midnight the Great Buddha Hall opens its central gate and the face-viewing window so you can see the Buddha's face from outside. Dress warmly for the late-night wait.
