Hikone Castle

An original keep designated a National Treasure, standing on a hill above Lake Biwa. The 800-yen adult ticket also covers the Genkyu-en garden below; the grounds open 8:30–17:00 (keep last entry 16:45). There are no elevators or slopes on the climb, so wear comfortable shoes.
