Mount Koya: Okunoin & Kongobu-ji
The mountaintop center of Shingon Buddhism founded by Kobo Daishi: walk the cedar-lined path through Okunoin to the Torodo lantern hall (open 6:00–17:00), then visit Kongobu-ji, the head temple, and the Konpon Daito pagoda. Kongobu-ji admission is ¥1,000 for junior high students and older, and a combined ticket covers five halls.
