Matsue Castle

One of Japan's 12 surviving original castle keeps and a National Treasure, with steep wooden stairs leading to a lookout over Matsue and Lake Shinji. From October to March the keep is open 8:30–17:00 (last entry 16:30); the Horikawa sightseeing boats circle the castle moat.
