Ueno Zoo

Japan's oldest zoo sits inside Ueno Park, split into the East Garden with its bear hill and nocturnal animal house and the West Garden around Shinobazu Pond, plus a children's petting area. Closed on Mondays; tickets stop selling an hour before the 17:00 closing.
