St Nicholas Church, home of the Santa Claus story
Saint Nicholas, the bishop behind the Santa Claus tradition, is believed to have been buried here in Myra. The Byzantine church has wall paintings of miracles attributed to him and a Roman sarcophagus decorated with fish scales and acanthus leaves.
