Britain's most complete Roman fort sits on the Whin Sill ridge with views along Hadrian's Wall, plus an exhibition on the lives of soldiers and their families. The fort is uphill from the car park; the visitor centre is closed but a coffee cart and toilets operate, and an AD122 bus ticket gets 20% off a walk-up ticket.
