Big Buddha (Wat Phra Yai)

Samui's best-known landmark, a seated golden Buddha on the north coast visible from kilometres away, surrounded by shrines, smaller Buddhas, a charm market and food stalls. Go early in the morning to see offerings and the monks' chanting; cover shoulders and wear trousers or long shorts, no beachwear.
