ʻĪao Valley State Monument and ʻĪao Needle

A paved 0.6-mile walk leads to a lookout facing Kukaʻemoku (ʻĪao Needle), a green ridge rising 1,200 ft from the valley floor, with an ethnobotanical garden of plants brought by Hawaiian settlers. Non-residents need an entry and parking reservation ($5 per person, $10 parking).
