Humpback Whale Watching off Maui

In winter, humpback whales (koholā) gather in the shallow ʻAuʻau Channel between Maui, Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi to breed and calve; 2–4 hour boat tours go out, or watch from McGregor Point lookout and the beaches of Kīhei and Wailea. Boats must stay 100 yards from whales, and never swim with or touch them.
