Grossmünster

Entry to the church is free; look for the stained-glass windows by Sigmar Polke and Augusto Giacometti and the crypt with 14th–15th-century wall paintings. Climbing the 187 steps of the Karlsturm (paid, no lift) gives views over the city and lake; the church is closed to visitors on Tuesdays and the tower currently opens only Friday to Sunday.
