Trek the rice terraces of Muong Hoa valley

Walk or cycle past rice terraces to villages such as Lao Chai and Ta Van, about 7 km from Sa Pa town, where many families run homestays in a green, rustic setting. The paths between the fields get very muddy, so wear boots, and pack a jacket for the cold mornings.
