Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre

Water puppetry, a northern Vietnamese folk art dating to the 11th century, is staged here by puppeteers standing in waist-deep water behind a screen, steering lacquered wooden puppets on bamboo poles through scenes of rural village life. The theatre is by Hoan Kiem Lake; tickets start from 100,000 VND, and checking showtimes in advance helps since popular evening shows fill up.
