Hanoi / Tay Ho
Tran Quoc Pagoda
Nearly 1,500 years old and considered the oldest pagoda in Hanoi, it stands on a small peninsula on the east side of West Lake. The grounds hold a bodhi tree descended from the tree of the Buddha's enlightenment, a gift from India's first president in 1959, along with centuries-old statues in the front yard; it is an easy stop on a West Lake walk at sunset.
