Ayutthaya / Samphao Lom
Wat Phutthaisawan
A royal monastery founded by King U-Thong on the west bank of the Chao Phraya, opposite the city island, on the site where the first settlers lived before Ayutthaya became the capital. It survived the fall of the city in relatively good condition, with a Khmer-style main prang, a reclining Buddha hall and faded murals in an old monks' residence.
