Things to do in Ayutthaya & Central

31 picks in Ayutthaya & Central, Thailand: spots, food and events for travelers.

Within reach of Bangkok are the temple ruins of the old capital Ayutthaya, the Bridge over the River Kwai and Erawan Falls in Kanchanaburi, the beach town of Hua Hin, Khao Yai National Park, the Damnoen Saduak floating market, the Maeklong railway market and the old town of Lopburi.

Good to knowAyutthaya is about 1 to 2 hours from Bangkok by train depending on the service, so it works as a day trip. The ruins and parks have little shade, so the cool season (roughly November to February) and early mornings are the easiest times for sightseeing.
